OK, at that time, i was a huge huge fan of the post-rock thing, and mostly of Tortoise and co (Directions, Slint, Gastr Del Sol... etc). I missed their first gig in Paris, but i was there with all the indie-police for the second, expecting much. This was a great show in the tiny Arapaho (r.i.p.). We were all bemused by their musicians skills and coolness. They made a cover of "theme de yoyo" from the Art Ensemble of Chicago. I always had the pirate tapes of this gig with me.
Don't renember which band was guesting.
The bad point is that i bought the same t-shirt than a close friend. And one day, we were meeting with others at Bastille quarter in Paris... wearing the same Tortoise t-shirt !!! Totally nerds.
We managed to handle the situation by doing bumper cars together, certainly pretending we were some sort of rally team with the same colors.
