And i was there...

This was the real one (see october 2010 post).

This day public transport was on strike, so the place was not so crowdy.

Planete Zen was a french band "à la Pixies."

Seam was quite good, but nobody was prepared to the beautiful noise made by Yo La Tengo; classic sound of US underground.

The trio made a fantastic gig, around two hours and a half with many encore... so generous, without pose. A great band indeed.

And i was there...

This gig took place in a sort of squat or basement. Other bands were playing, but i don't remember which ones. Anyway, it was not so memorable. Sure, Mecca Normal had an attitude. One thing i remember is what said a guy from an indie records shop in Paris. From the end of the eighties till the begining of the nineties, we (the guys who know...) were growing with all the noisy indie pop english music. Slint had already made an impression, as Fugazi and of course the Pixies, Sonic Youth or Yo La Tengo. But this guy said that we should be prepared for an american invasion. The bastard... he was right. Next, we (the indie squad) would listen to all the noisy us bands, then grunge, post-rock... etc, Clearly, huge music.
